Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 200 g (7/8 cup) (1 3/4 sticks) butter
  • 225 g (1 1/4 cup) sugar
  • 225 g (1 1/4 cup) dark brown sugar
  • 2 (115 g) eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 375 g (3 cups) all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 300 g (1 3/4 cups) chocolate chips
  • 175 g (1 1/8 cup) walnuts, chopped (optional)

Steps

  1. Preheat oven to 375 °F.
  2. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
  3. Cream butter and sugars together until fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla extract, and beat until fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  5. Sift together flour, salt, and baking soda, then stir into butter mixture until just combined.
  6. Add the chocolate chips and nuts and stir to incorporate well.
  7. Scoop 1-tbs portions onto the cookie sheets, placed about 1 inch apart.
  8. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until they begin to turn light brown at edges but still look raw in the middle.
  9. Cool on the pan 1 minute, then slide off cookie sheet onto a wire rack.

Storage Instructions

When fully cool, store airtight up to one day. For longer storage, freeze.
