Buttercream - Vegan

Ingredients

  • 115 g (1/2 cup) vegan margarine
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) shortening
  • 375 g (3 cups) confectioner's sugar
  • 25 g (2 tbs) (approximately) vegan milk
  • 5 g (1 tsp) vanilla extract

Steps

  1. Cream together the fats.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and stir together.
  3. Beat until fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add small amounts more liquid if needed - towards end as mixture lightens with beating.

Variation: Chocolate Buttercream - Vegan

Steps

  1. Add 75 g (3/4 cup) cocoa powder with the confectioners' sugar.
  2. Double the amount of vegan milk.

Storage Instructions

Store airtight in the refrigerator up to 2 days. Freeze for longer storage. Bring to room temperature before using.
